Professional Experience

I started working at Swallow in 1990.  Initially I was a Physical and Health Education teacher, but then earned my elementary education degree and moved into the classroom. I received my undergraduate and masters degrees from UW-LaCrosse.

Personal Life

I love all things outdoors and active.  I spend my free time biking, running, hiking and cross country skiing. When I am not outdoors I can be found reading a good historical fiction book or numerous nonfiction titles. I have two adult children who both attend the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. My husband works at Arrowhead where he leads the math department and teaches at North Campus.

Welcome to fifth grade! I’ve been teaching since 1994. I began my career as an elementary Spanish teacher. I was hired at Swallow School in 2000, where I taught third grade for 17 years and then switched to fifth grade in 2017. I graduated from UW-Whitewater in 1994 with a major in Elementary Education, grades 1-9, and a Spanish minor. In 2002, I earned my Master's Degree in Reading from UW-Whitewater. I have since taken courses through Viterbo University, and I earned my Reading Specialist license in 2013. I consider myself a life-long learner and truly value the opportunity for everyone to be inspired to learn.

I have two teenage children. I enjoy spending my free time being involved in their lives and activities, as well as reading, going for walks, and watching movies. I'm confident that you will agree; Swallow School is a great place to be!
