Professional Experience

Mrs. Calbaum has taught choir/general music at Swallow School for 5 years. She was previously a K-6 general music/choir teacher in the Elmbrook School District for 9 years and a 1-12 general music/choir teacher in the Cedar Grove-Belgium district for 3 years. Besides teaching public school, Mrs. Calbaum has been a graduate level music education class instructor, church choir director/accompanist, MSO docent instructor, Wisconsin Music Educators Association Listening Project chairperson and a presenter at various music conventions.

Education

Mrs. Calbaum has a Bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Master’s Degree in music education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She has also accumulated over 25 graduate credits beyond her Master’s Degree in advanced education and music classes.

Personal Life

Mrs. Calbaum enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, singing, playing the piano, attending the theater, and gardening.

Mrs. Calbaum’s passion is not only teaching children music but also building a love and understanding of music. 

 
Mr. Westley

Mr. Graham Westley is starting his first year at Swallow as the instrumental music director and general music teacher. He is a member of the National Association for Music Education. Before starting at Swallow, Mr. Westley was a student teacher in Racine Unified School District as a general music teacher at S. C. Johnson Elementary School and at William Horlick High School as an instrumental music teacher. 

Mr. Westley received a Bachelor’s degree in music education, with a concentration in
instrumental music education from Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin. While at Carthage, Mr. Westley traveled all over Wisconsin, Illinois, and as far away as Japan to perform with the Carthage Wind Orchestra and Philharmonic Orchestra. He was the Director of the Pep Band for two years and the Student Conductor of the Carthage Concert Band. Mr. Westley conducted the Concert Band, sang in the A.F. Siebert Chapel Choir, and performed in the Wind Orchestra at the annual Christmas Festival. He studied instrumental conducting with Dr. James Ripley and trumpet with Mr. Kevin Wood.

During Mr. Westley’s free time, he enjoys golfing, watching movies, and performing on trumpet with the Racine Concert Band. He also enjoys traveling to England to spend time with his family.
