Welcome to the 4K-3rd grade art world! I am thrilled to continue being a part of the creative side here at Swallow School District.

Art is a way of communicating, and I am excited to work with your 4K-3rd grader with hands on art activities, exploring various techniques, learning about art history and most importantly, having fun! I grew up in Oconomowoc and have moved back to my hometown roots. I obtained my Bachelor of Science Degree in Art Education at UW Madison, and shortly after received my Masters Degree in Teacher Leadership through Carthage College in Kenosha. Since then, I have taught art for the past 17 years in SE Wisconsin at K-8 levels, but most of them are in the elementary level, where my passion is.

Outside of school, I enjoy playing tennis, exercising, cooking and trying new recipes, and being outdoors with my family! In addition to teaching, I also am a Wellness Coach  that helps people with fitness, nutrition, and accountability at any level. My husband and I keep busy with our 2 children and all their activities too~ Evelyn (11) and Anderson (9). I look forward to seeing you all again and can’t wait for another year full of exploring creative ideas and inspiration with your young artist.

Welcome to 4th-8th Grade Art!! My goals for students are that they will find success; gain artistic and problem-solving skills; learn that mistakes are a way to learn and grow; and discover a love for art -- whether it’s a medium, an artist, technique, process, or just a positive way to express themselves.

Professional Experience
One of the best things about teaching art is having the opportunity to see students grow from year to year. I have experience teaching in both art and regular education classrooms from Pre-K through 12th grade. I run both the 4-5th grade Art Club and the Middle school Art Club. Additionally, I am one of the Swallow Middle School Drama Club directors and the scenery designer.

My Bachelor’s Degree is in Art Education, Pre-K-12th Grade with a minor in English from UW-Milwaukee. In 2010, I earned a Pre-K through 6th Grade regular ed teaching license through the MAT program at Cardinal Stritch University; and in 2016 completed my Masters in the Art of Teaching, also through Cardinal Stritch.

Personal Life
I enjoy spending time with my husband, Steve, and three children -- Jakob (18), Annika (16), and Erika (14) and our fancy Australian Terrier/Basset/Beagle/Dachshund mix, Cinna. I also enjoy working on my own art, exercising, going to concerts and the theater, reading, spending time with friends, gardening, cooking, and playing/running team trivia. We are members of a German cultural group, so you may spot my family at various cultural events in the Metro Milwaukee area.
